My dissertation project, “Polar Currents: Ice and Empire in U.S. and Arctic Writing, 1840-1920,” has been awarded a Doctoral Fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

This project has also been supported by research grants and archival fellowships with the International Society for the History of Oceanography, the New Bedford Whaling Museum, and the Maine Women Writers Collection at the University of New England.
